The Nelson Mandela Bay stadium is one of five new stadiums being constructed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It has a seating capacity of 44 000, with 4000 more seats being added for the duration of the tournament, as well as the latest technological advancements used in sports, including two massive viewing screens. It is also one of only three stadiums in South Africa to be located on the coast.

The stadium has already hosted major sports events in the form of a rugby match between the British Lions and the newly formed Southern Kings, the 2009 Premiers Cup (a highly contested soccer tournament) and a Vodacom Challenge match between South African soccer giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

The Nelson Mandela Bay stadium is Port Elizabeth’s contribution the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It can be found in the Prince Alfred Park on the banks of the North End Lake. It is approximately 2 kilometers from the Port Elizabeth coastline and no more than 15 minutes from Port Elizabeth’s hotels, easily accessible thanks to the N2 highway.
